Per chi non lo sapesse, i Royal Trux sono un duo formato da Neil Hagerty, chitarrista, cantante, compositore e produttore, già complice del vate Jon Spencer nei Pussy Galore, e dalla sua compagna Jennifer Herrema, cantante, compositrice, produttrice e modella (CK). Attivi dal 1987 al 2001, hanno deciso di riprovarci nel 2015, e questo è il loro undicesimo disco, a 19 anni dal precedente; dalle dichiarazioni di Hagerty, la reunion pare già al capolinea, ma questo ha poca importanza. Ora, sempre per chi non li conoscesse: che musica suonano i Royal Trux? Eh, fosse facile. Ci provo: mettete insieme i Rolling Stones, tantissime droghe, influenze funky e psichedeliche, e un sapiente songwriting, dono che hanno entrambi i componenti. Ecco a voi l'ennesimo disco sinuoso, stratificato, rock and roll un po' marcio (e, come già detto, ma come si intuisce pure dal titolo, drogato), ma che decisamente dà dei punti a molti aspiranti Jack White. Per curiosi.
For the uninitiated, the Royal Trux is a duo formed by Neil Hagerty, guitarist, singer, composer and producer, already accomplice of the bard Jon Spencer in Pussy Galore, and by his partner Jennifer Herrema, singer, composer, producer and model (CK). Active from 1987 to 2001, they decided to try again in 2015, and this is their eleventh record, 19 years from the previous; from the declarations of Hagerty, the reunion seems already to the terminus, but this has little importance. Now, always for those who don't know them: what music do the Royal Trux play? Eh, it is not easy to say. I try: put together the Rolling Stones, lots of drugs, funky and psychedelic influences, and a clever songwriting, a gift that both components have.
