Quinto disco per la band di Miami, Florida, capitanata dal cantante/chitarrista Stephen Brooks e dall'altro unico membro superstite della formazione originale, il batterista Rick Smith, ma per me prima volta che li ascolto. Ottimo disco di metal moderno, dentro il quale, così come si ostinano a catalogarli, si sentono influenze forti sludge, stoner e doom, ma che, so già che con questo paragone mi potrei attirare le maledizioni dei loro die-hard fan, ai miei orecchi "vergini", li fanno suonare come dei Bush più solidi e meno romantici (ascoltare Admission la canzone). Le chitarre sono belle compatte, il suono davvero massiccio, le canzoni davvero ben scritte e le melodie sono talvolta asimmetriche, ma sempre estremamente godibili; il disco è davvero buono nella sua interezza, e l'accostamento con i Bush, dal mio punto di vista, è un complimento. Adesso che li ho "scoperti" non li lascerò più inosservati.
Fifth album for the band from Miami, Florida, led by singer/guitarist Stephen Brooks and by the other only surviving member of the original line up, drummer Rick Smith, but for me first time listening to them. Excellent modern metal record, in which, as they insist on cataloging them, strong sludge, stoner and doom influences are heard, but to me, I already know that with this comparison I could attract the curses of their die-hard fans, to my "virgin" ears, make them sound like more solid and less romantic Bush (listen to the title track). The guitars are beautiful compacted, the sound really massive, the songs really well written and the melodies are sometimes asymmetrical, but always extremely enjoyable; the record is really good in its entirety, and the juxtaposition with the Bush, from my point of view, is a compliment. Now that I've "discovered" them, I will never leave them unnoticed.
