Se partissimo dalla fine, vi potrei dire che la conclusiva Through the Sunlit Door è un chiaro omaggio agli Alan Parsons Project di Sirius (da Eye in the Sky). Potrei dirvi che il suono e l'approccio dell'ormai duo Reece/Keely, da Austin, Texas, al decimo disco, non è cambiato di molto. Eppure, considerando che il loro lato migliore è senza dubbio quello dal vivo, è innegabile, almeno per me, che anche l'ascolto dei loro dischi provoca un piacere rilevante. Il loro marchio di fabbrica è quella grandeur priva di troppi orpelli, tipica delle band "collettive" di un certo indie alt rock di gran moda negli ultimi anni, e che al contrario, va dritta al sodo pure inglobando una quantità quasi inenarrabile di influenze (come ebbi modo di dire più di 10 anni fa, "dagli EL&P ai Beatles"). Anche questo loro decimo disco contiene una serie non trascurabile di canzoni belle, robuste, totalmente godibili sia da chi è abituato a cose più pesanti, sia da chi si ferma all'indie.
If we'd start from the end, I could tell you that the final Through the Sunlit Door is a clear tribute to Sirius' Alan Parsons Project (from Eye in the Sky). I could tell you that the sound and approach of the now Reece / Keely duo from Austin, Texas on the tenth record hasn't changed much. Yet, considering that their best side is undoubtedly the live side, it is undeniable, at least for me, that listening to their records also causes significant pleasure. Their trademark is that grandeur without too many frills, typical of the "collective" bands of a certain indie alt rock of great fashion in recent years, and which on the contrary, goes straight to the point even incorporating an almost unspeakable amount of influences (as I got to say more than 10 years ago, "from EL&P to the Beatles"). Also their tenth album contains a not negligible series of beautiful, robust songs, totally enjoyable both by those used to heavier things and by those who stop to the indie rock.
