Barbara Joan Streisand, conosciuta come Barbra (ha cambiato legalmente il nome, togliendo una a, per essere unica), chi non la conosce? Cantante, attrice, compositrice e regista, eccellente in tutti i campi da lei "frequentati". Di famiglia ebrea, è da sempre impegnata politicamente: amica di Shimon Peres, grande sostenitrice del Partito Democratico statunitense (in Italia sarebbe definita radical chic). Precorritrice in ogni campo: è stata fidanzata con il tennista Agassi negli anni '90: la differenza d'età tra i due è di 28 anni (lei è ovviamente più anziana: oggi ha 76 anni, portati tra l'altro meravigliosamente). Sostenitrice dei diritti delle donne e LGBT, anche qui, da sempre. Insomma, massimo rispetto. Questo Walls, già dal titolo un manifesto contro la Presidenza Trump, è il suo trentaseiesimo disco in studio, e mette insieme qualche nuova canzone, per la quale si avvale del meglio a livello di produzione e di composizione, e qualche canzone tradizionale, con testi che si attaglino ad un disco come dire, orientato politicamente ma al tempo stesso delicato (addirittura c'è una coraggiosa medley tra Imagine e What A Wonderful World). L'operazione è discutibile, perfino dal mio punto di vista, un punto di vista che concorda sulla causa, ma, se riuscite a mettere da parte l'eventuale repulsione per uno stile pop-musical, capirete che la classe non si inventa: o ce l'hai o non ce l'hai, e la signora in questione ce ne ha per dozzine di aspiranti stelle musicali (e non solo).

The operation is questionable, even from my point of view, a point of view that agrees on the cause, but if you can put aside any repulsion for a pop-Broadway musical style, you will understand that the class is not invented: do you have it or you do not have it, and the lady in question has it for dozens of aspiring musical stars (and not only).
