Quarto album per il 29enne canadese, osannatissimo a livello underground dalla critica, cantautore, compositore, multi-strumentista e produttore. Autore di un genere per il quale in molti si sono sbizzarriti a trovare un'etichetta: lui, la definisce jizz jazz, e chissà che abbia ragione. Elementi di folk, country, indie rock, bossa nova, per me, che lo ascolto oggi per la prima volta in assoluto, senza aver conosciuto nient'altro, denota senza dubbio padronanza della composizione, gusto estetico delicato e accattivante, nel descrivere piccole storie romantiche e, ancora una volta, delicate. Nonostante lo descrivano come un tipo che stenta a prendersi sul serio, mi pare decisamente uno che fa sul serio, e fa della bella musica.
Fourth album for the 29 year old Canadian, highly acclaimed, at the underground level, by critics, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer. Author of a genre for which many have indulged in finding a label: he calls it jizz jazz, and who knows if he's right. Elements of folk, country, indie rock, bossa nova, for me, that I listen to today for the first time ever, without having known anything else, undoubtedly denotes mastery of the composition, delicate and captivating aesthetic taste, in describing small stories romantic and, once again, delicate. Despite everybody describing him as a guy who finds it hard to take himself seriously, he definitely seems to me to be serious, and he makes beautiful music.
