Settimo disco in studio per la band finlandese. Largo spazio al cantato pulito, a quanto leggo diversamente rispetto al passato, la band è autrice di una sorta di black metal molto melodico, dove si sentono elementi ed influenze doom, post metal, gothic, in più di un passaggio ricordano gli ultimi Ulver. Disco di grande atmosfera, venato da più di una sfumatura di tristezza: le liriche parlano direttamente della morte di Aleah Stanbridge, cantante metal e collaboratrice di varie band (tra le quali anche loro stessi), nonché compagna del chitarrista solista Juha Raivio, morta di cancro nel 2016, a 39 anni di età (la Stanbridge appare come co-autrice di Clouds on Your Side su questo When a Shadow Is Forced into the Light). Interessante.
Seventh studio album for the Finnish band. Wide space for clean singing, as I read differently than in the past, the band is the author of a sort of very melodic black metal, where elements and influences of doom, post metal, gothic are heard, in more than one passage they remind the last Ulver. Album with a great atmosphere, veined by more than a shade of sadness: the lyrics speak directly of the death of Aleah Stanbridge, metal singer and collaborator of various bands (including themselves), as well as companion of the solo guitarist Juha Raivio, who died of cancer in 2016, at 39 years of age (Stanbridge appears as a co-author of Clouds on Your Side on this When a Shadow Is Forced into the Light). Interesting.
