Dopo sei anni dal precedente Burnt Sugar, ecco il terzo album per la band proveniente dalla Florida. Sempre molto potente e "fisico", sempre molto Sonic Youth, sempre molto divertente e fresco da ascoltare, la mia impressione è stata che in qualche episodio i Gouge Away provino a rallentare, a frenare leggermente la loro aggressività, per dare un'occhiata ad altri percorsi, leggermente alternativi. La voce di Christina diventa pulita, crea un contrasto interessante con la potenza del suono. Si intravedono, quindi, nuovi orizzonti, e chissà che riescano a creare qualcosa di diverso nel prossimo futuro.
Six years after the previous Burnt Sugar, here is the third album for the band from Florida. Always very powerful and "physical", always very Sonic Youth, always very fun and fresh to listen to, my impression was that in some episodes Gouge Away try to slow down, to slightly slow down their aggression, to take a look at other routes, slightly alternative. Christina's voice becomes clean, creates an interesting contrast with the power of the sound. We can therefore glimpse new horizons, and who knows whether they will be able to create something different in the near future.
