Sesto disco in studio per Steven Ellison, genietto 35enne nativo di Los Angeles. Vi avviso: di certo non qualcosa per i rocker duri e puri, ma, come a volte mi capita di segnalarvi, qualcosa di totalmente diverso. Mi ci sono avvicinato aspettandomi il "solito" rapper, e invece qua siamo di fronte ad un jazzista d'avanguardia, seppure lui sia più un percussionista e un programmatore di synth, al massimo un tastierista. Circondato da collaboratori iper-tecnici, realizza questo disco molto lungo, che somiglia ad un flusso di coscienza musicale. Intitolato con un neologismo che, a quanto mi dice Urban Dictionary significa, più o meno, quello che vi ho scritto nel titolo del post, ma che racchiude anche la radice flame, gioca infatti con il concetto del fuoco, tanto è vero che la chicca del disco è uno spoken word nientemeno che di David Lynch su Fire is Coming. Un disco stratificato, lungo e complesso, probabilmente molto distante da quello che usualmente ascoltate, ma che vale la pena di provare.
Sixth studio album for Steven Ellison, a 35-year-old little genius from Los Angeles. I warn you: certainly not something for rockers hard and pure, but, as I sometimes tell you, something totally different. I approached it expecting the "usual" rapper, and instead here we are facing an avant-garde jazz player, even if he is more a percussionist and a synth programmer, at most a keyboard player. Surrounded by hyper-technical collaborators, he made this very long record, which resembles a stream of musical consciousness. Entitled with a neologism that, according to Urban Dictionary, means, more or less, what I wrote you in the post title (in Italian), but which also contains the root "flame", in fact plays with the concept of fire, so much so that the gem of the album is a spoken word by none other than David Lynch on Fire is Coming. A stratified disc, long and complex, probably very far from what you usually hear, but that worth trying.
