Arrivato al quarto disco, il ragazzo londinese decide di alleggerire un po' le atmosfere e di iniettare un po' di allegria, quantomeno nei ritmi. Difficile da spiegare, ma probabilmente, aver lavorato (come ospite, compositore e produttore) per molte stelle dell'RNB e dell'hip hop, ha influito sul suo percorso musicale, e questo disco ne è la dimostrazione. Assume Form non è assolutamente un brutto disco, ma è decisamente meno intenso dei precedenti. Eppure, che James Blake sia un genietto, è innegabile. E lo si capisce ascoltando il disco, da come riesce a stratificare e ad intrecciare pop, RNB ed electropop, con melodie sopraffine ed atmosfere moderne e retrò. Featuring di Travis Scott, Metro Boomin, Moses Sumney, Rosalìa (deliziosa Barefoot in the Park) e André 3000. Pezzo favorito I'll Come Too (che contiene campionamenti di La Contessa. Incontro, del compositore italiano Bruno Nicolai, a lungo collaboratore di Morricone).
Arrived at the fourth album, the London boy decides to lighten up the atmosphere and to inject a bit of joy, at least in the rhythms. Difficult to explain, but probably, having worked (as a guest, composer and producer) for many RNB and hip hop stars, this work has influenced his musical journey, and this record is proof of this. Assume Form is definitely not a bad record, but it is definitely less intense than the previous ones. Yet, the fact that James Blake is a little musical genius, it is undeniable. And it's understandable by listening to the album, from how he manages to stratify and weave pop, RNB and electropop, with superfine melodies, modern and retro atmospheres.
