Spero di ricredermi nel tempo, ma, con grande dispiacere, il sesto disco dei Baroness non mi ha esaltato come tutti i precedenti. Lo schema della loro forma-canzone è ormai chiaro, un heavy rock muscolare con ariose ed asimmetriche aperture melodiche sempre molto molto belle e "spezzate" per evitare di sembrare troppo pop, ma, appunto, ormai prevedibile. Intendiamoci, è un disco che si ascolta con grande piacere, che mostra una tecnica complessiva superlativa, ma manca di quei due/tre brani che lasciano il segno.
I hope to change my mind over time, but, with great regret, the sixth Baroness album didn't excite me like all the previous ones. The pattern of their song form is now clear, a muscular heavy rock with airy and asymmetrical melodic openings that are always very beautiful and "broken" to avoid seeming too pop, but, indeed, now predictable. Let's be clear, it's a record that can be listened to with great pleasure, which shows a superlative overall technique, but it lacks those two/three songs that leave their mark.
