No pain. The world is a wonderful whisper for those who can listen, if necessary in silence.

Aviary - Julia Holter (2018)

Abbiamo già parlato di Julia Holter in occasione dei suoi due dischi precedenti, Have You in My Wilderness del 2015, e In the Same Room, live del 2017.

We have already talked about Julia Holter on her two previous albums, Have You in My Wilderness 2015, and In the Same Room, live of 2017. The title is inspired by a line of the Lebanese-American writer Etel Adnan, and the aviary it is the symbol of how the mind perceives memories. As I had already tried to express on the occasion of the commentary on the record of 2015, listening to the Los Angeles' artist requires concentration, predisposition to experimentation, good will and patience. You will find exciting and totally opposite reviews, just for this. Unlike the almost rarefied Have You, here there are many dense and loaded moments of instruments, I would dare say joyful even if cacophonous and decidedly asymmetrical. As always, very high intellectual references, for a decidedly not easy album: as Q wrote, "it's not always easy, but it is frequently brilliant".
