L'undicesimo disco della band svedese, che arriva dopo uno iato di un anno, e a distanza di quattro anni dal lavoro precedente The Fall of Hearts, una pausa dovuta non solo al ricovero di uno dei chitarristi Roger Öjersson per un grave problema alla schiena, ma anche ad un necessario riposo e chiarimento delle idee per l'intera band, mi ha ricordato prepotentemente i mancuniani Amplifier, forse solo leggerissimamente smussati. Siamo ovviamente molto lontani dal death-black-doom di Dance of December Souls (il loro debutto del 1993), la band è passata attraverso cambiamenti e maturazioni (dipende dal punto di vista), fino ad arrivare ad una miscela di metal velato di oscurità, molto tecnico, estrinsecato da canzoni dalla struttura progressive ma snelle nella durata. Un disco che oserei definire elegante.
The eleventh album of the Swedish band, which comes after a hiatus of one year, and four years after the previous work The Fall of Hearts, a pause due not only to the hospitalization of one of the guitarists Roger Öjersson for a serious back problem, but also to a necessary rest and clarification of the ideas for the whole band, reminded to me the Mancunian Amplifier, perhaps slightly rounded. We are obviously very far from the death-black-doom of Dance of December Souls (their 1993 debut), the band has gone through changes and maturations (depends on the point of view), up to a mixture of dark veiled metal, very technical, expressed by songs with a progressive structure but slim in duration. A record that I would dare to call elegant.
