Ascoltando la sua musica, si fa fatica a credere che Gautier Serre aka Igorrr, inizialmente nato come one man band, poco dopo divenuto un collettivo del quale fanno parte la soprano Laure Le Prunenec, il cantante Laurent Lunoir ed il batterista Sylvain Bouvier, abbia origini solamente francesi. Le influenze sono incredibili, talvolta assurde: musica da camera, techno, elettronica, orientale, balcanica, extreme metal. Probabilmente l'etichetta dadaista, applicata alla musica di Igorrr, è quella che le si addice maggiormente. Dunque, ascoltare questo quarto album, è un po' come venire scaraventati dentro un frullatore, nel quale è presente musica di Domenico Scarlatti e Cannibal Corpse, Mike Patton e Aphex Twin, Portishead e Chopin, Bach e Meshuggah, marching band e buskers, matrimoni balcanici e bivacchi beduini. Un modo per viaggiare stando fermi con le cuffie agli orecchi, un modo per capire che la mescolanza è (anche) cosa buona. Una sfida che appaga.
Listening to his music, it is difficult to believe that Gautier Serre aka Igorrr, initially born as a one man band, shortly after became a collective which includes the soprano Laure Le Prunenec, the singer Laurent Lunoir and the drummer Sylvain Bouvier, has only French origins. The influences are incredible, sometimes absurd: chamber music, techno, electronic, oriental, Balkan, extreme metal. The Dadaist label, applied to Igorrr's music, is probably the one that suits her best. So listening to this fourth album is a bit like being thrown into a blender, in which there is music by Domenico Scarlatti and Cannibal Corpse, Mike Patton and Aphex Twin, Portishead and Chopin, Bach and Meshuggah, marching bands and buskers, Balkan weddings and Bedouin bivouacs. A way to travel while standing still with headphones on, an way to understand that mixing is (also) a good thing. A challenge that satisfies.
