Come potrete notare, facendo la classica ricerca su questo blog, seguo la cantante belga di Charleroi fin quasi dai suoi esordi (non esattamente, per essere onesti), e già questo potrebbe spiazzare, perché teoricamente, la De Biasio è catalogata come cantante jazz. Ma è soprattutto una cantante e musicista che ama sperimentare. Lo spunto per questo suo quarto album, non contando l'EP con una singola canzone da 25 minuti Blackened Cities, è un festival, Europalia, che la invita a elaborare una propria proposta sul tema del viaggio in treno. E lei, oltre ad un video che è andato in mostra alla Triennale di Milano lo scorso settembre 2022, si è messa a scavare nelle sue radici italiane, in Abruzzo e in Friuli, da dove i nonni partirono per andare, come molti altri italiani di allora, a lavorare in Belgio nelle miniere tristemente famose di Marcinelle. Il risultato è un disco "obliquo", come lo hanno descritto alcuni severi recensori, ma decisamente profondo ed interessante. Se avrete la curiosità di ascoltarlo, capirete che non ci sono etichette che possano catalogarlo. E racchiude la moltitudine di influenze che l'hanno formata come artista musicale, davvero, a tutto tondo. Nonostante non siano i generi che normalmente ascolto, qua siamo di fronte a un qualcosa di estremamente profondo e affascinante.

As you may notice, by doing the classic research on this blog, I have been following the Belgian singer from Charleroi almost since her debut (not exactly, to be honest), and this in itself could be surprising, because theoretically, De Biasio is classified as a jazz singer. But she is above all a singer and musician who loves to experiment. The inspiration for this fourth album of hers, not counting the EP with a single 25-minute song Blackened Cities, is a festival, Europalia, which invites her to develop her own proposal on the theme of train travel. And she, in addition to a video that was exhibited at the Milan Triennale last September 2022, began to dig into her Italian roots, in Abruzzo and Friuli, where her grandparents left to go, like many other Italians of then, to work in Belgium in the sadly famous mines of Marcinelle. The result is an "oblique" album, as some severe reviewers have described it, but decidedly profound and interesting. If you have the curiosity to listen to it, you will understand that there are no labels that can catalog it. And it encompasses the multitude of influences that have shaped her as a truly well-rounded musical artist. Although they are not the genres that you normally listen to, here we are faced with something extremely profound and fascinating.
