E' arrivata all'ottavo disco, la creatura di Josh Homme, e arriva alla fine (lo spero per lui) di un periodo piuttosto burrascoso, a livello personale. E' vero, come dice Pitchfork, che è sicuramente il loro disco più arrabbiato da molti anni a questa parte, più blues, una sorta di ritorno alle sane radici che avevano giustificato la formazione di questa band (la fine dei Kyuss, ripetiamolo ancora una volta, una band seminale per il post grunge, probabilmente la band che ha inventato lo stoner rock, o quantomeno quella che l'ha raffinato e l'ha fatto giungere fino a noi). Però, è pure evidente che manca un controllo, una direzione, e soprattutto, una dose importante di originalità e genio.
Josh Homme's creation has reached its eighth album, and it comes at the end (I hope so for him) of a rather stormy period, on a personal level. It's true, as Pitchfork says, that it is certainly their angriest album in many years, more bluesy, a sort of return to the healthy roots that had justified the formation of this band (the end of Kyuss, let's repeat it once again time, a seminal band for post grunge, probably the band that invented stoner rock, or at least the one that refined it and brought it down to us). However, it is also evident that there is a lack of control, direction, and above all, an important dose of originality and genius.
