Quinto disco per Perfume Genius, all'anagrafe Michael Alden Hadreas, origini greche ma nato a Des Moines, Iowa e cresciuto nei sobborghi di Seattle, Washington. Continuiamo con la mini-bio dovuta in casi come questo, e cioè la prima volta che ne parliamo su fassbinder: dichiaratamente gay alle scuole superiori, essendo l'unico ricevette minacce serie, ignorate dall'amministrazione, lasciò la scuola, e due anni dopo fu aggredito da altri giovani nel suo quartiere. Si trasferì a Williamsburg, Brooklyn (in seguito è tornato a Seattle ed ha cominciato a fare musica). Andiamo avanti: vorrei ringraziare chi ha coniato l'etichetta chamber pop, perché riesce a descrivere quantomeno la sensibilità della musica di Perfume Genius, che ha lontanamente qualcosa a che fare con quella di Antony and the Johnsons, meno teatrale, più pop, ma sempre delicatissima e al tempo stesso molto molto bella. Non tutte le tracce riescono a rapire la sensibilità dell'ascoltatore in toto, ma il talento è innegabile, al pari della versatilità (canzoni come On the Floor convivono nello stesso disco con altre come Describe), e fanno della musica di Perfume Genius un must.

Not all tracks manage to kidnap the sensitivity of the listener completely, but the talent is undeniable, as is versatility (songs like On the Floor coexist on the same record with others like Describe), and make Perfume Genius music a must.
