Chi lo avrebbe immaginato, che questo concerto sarebbe rimasto l'ultimo, per lungo tempo, vista la pandemia del 2020. Eppure, è andata così. Sono al Forum di Assago con un certo anticipo, perché devo confessare che stasera sono più incuriosito dagli special guest, i polacchi Behemoth, che mi sono perso un paio d'anni fa, rispetto agli headliner, già visti molti anni fa.
E infatti, la band guidata dal discusso Nergal, criticato da molti perché giudicato un poser (la definizione mi fa sorridere ripensando agli anni '80), offre un ottimo spettacolo, nei circa 45 minuti a disposizione, insieme ad una scaletta equilibrata (seppur limitata), c'è perfino Chant for Eschaton 2000, dal loro Satanica del 1999, fuochi, esplosioni, fumo, visual, la conclusione con l'intera band alle percussioni su Coagvla, il tutto mentre il Forum si va riempiendo, ed il già citato Nergal dimostra di saper recitare la parte del capopopolo, trascinando il pubblico ancora non traboccante. Non sono poi così diversi, se consideriamo i generi un po' differenti, rispetto agli Slipknot di un Corey Taylor che come sempre, ci tiene a ricordare che conosce le basi dell'italiano, bestemmie comprese. Apre le danze una For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) degli AC/DC sparata ad un volume altissimo dalle casse, dopo di che, su di un palco che appare immenso (molto moderno), ecco il combo statunitense. Scaletta lunghissima, diciassette pezzi, encore compresi, introduzione con Insert Coin registrata, altre due registrazioni ad aprire e chiudere gli encore, una performance dove ci sono anche diverse pause, che ribadisce da una parte la devozione dei molti fan, dall'altra l'assoluta ridondanza della formazione, una cosa che non capirò mai. Massimo rispetto comunque per una band che ha sicuramente contribuito all'allargamento del bacino d'utenza del metal, ma che probabilmente ha fatto il suo tempo.

They are not so different, if we consider the genres a little different, compared to the Slipknot of a Corey Taylor who, as always, wants to remember that he knows the basics of Italian, including blasphemies. For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) by AC/DC of course, opens the dances, shot at a very high volume from the speakers, after which, on a stage that appears immense (very modern), here is the American combo. Very long set-list, seventeen tracks, including encore, introduction with a recorded Insert Coin, two other recordings to open and close the encore, a performance where there are also several pauses, which reaffirms on one hand the devotion of many fans, on the other the absolute redundancy of the line-up, something I will never understand. Maximum respect, however, for a band that has certainly contributed to the expansion of the catchment area of metal, but which has probably made its time.
