Il quindicesimo album in studio della band brasiliana, ormai dimentica dei fratelli Cavalera (sono ormai molti di più gli album e gli anni passati senza che con), è, e probabilmente la mia è una fissa, l'ennesimo tentativo, onesto senza dubbio ma non esattamente riuscito, di conciliare il metal con il tribalismo che in qualche modo, riuscì con Roots. Concept album basato sulla numerologia e ammiccante al Quadrivio (ma in portoghese quadra significa anche campo sportivo), nelle intenzioni della band il disco formato da 12 tracce è suddiviso in quattro parti, ognuna con tre canzoni che guardano a sfaccettature diverse del metal: la prima al thrash classico dei vecchi Sepultura, la seconda al groove/percussivo di Roots (ri-eccoci), la terza al progressive, la quarta al melodico quasi ballad. Il risultato a mio modesto parere non è così esaltante come i risultati delle chart o diverse recensioni sembrerebbero indicare. E' un disco che segnala una band che paradossalmente, dopo 15 dischi si ritrova ancora alla ricerca di un'identità.
The Brazilian band's fifteenth studio album, totally forgotten the Cavalera brothers (there are now more albums and years gone by without them), is, and probably mine is a fixation, yet another attempt, honest without a doubt but not exactly successful, to reconcile metal with tribalism that somehow succeeded with Roots. Concept album based on numerology and winking at the Quadrivium (but in Portuguese quadra also means sports court), in the band's intentions the 12-track disc is divided into four parts, each with three songs that look at different facets of metal: the first to the classic thrash of the old Sepultura, the second to groove / percussive style of Roots (here we are again), the third to progressive, the fourth to melodic almost ballad. The result in my humble opinion is not as exciting as the results of the charts or several reviews would seem to indicate. It is a record that signals a band that paradoxically, after 15 records, still finds itself looking for an identity.
