Ha ragione l'amico che non citerò per la sua quiete di coppia, che c'è solo da provare amore, nei confronti di Phoebe Bridgers. Lo capirete, se avete un cuore, fin dalle prime note vocali di Garden Song, subito dopo l'intro di DVD Menu. Dieci tracce (più un intro, appunto) per un secondo disco che ci ricorda che questa ragazza californiana della zona di Mendocino è, in questo momento, il top dell'emo-folk. Canzoni delicate che parlano dei temi chiave della generazione dei giovani di oggi: mancanza di empatia e connessione, differenze e tensioni tra l'essere e l'apparire, il dolore solitario dell'assistere allo sgretolarsi delle cose. Sempre sull'orlo della depressione, un altro modo per riflettere sul dolore e la violenza soprattutto psicologica, Phoebe si fa aiutare dalle amiche delle boygenius Julien Baker e Lucy Dacus, alle voci nelle due tracce conclusive, da molti ottimi musicisti (il disco è "soffice" ma piuttosto stratificato a livello strumentale), e soprattutto da quello che ormai possiamo considerare il suo mentore, Conor Oberst, alla voce su due tracce e co-compositore su almeno cinque. Non siamo ancora al capolavoro, ma la ragazza potrebbe farcela nel prossimo futuro.

You will understand it, if you have a heart, right from the first Garden Song vocal notes, immediately after the intro of DVD Menu. Delicate songs that speak about the key themes of today's generation of young people: lack of empathy and connection, differences and tensions between being and appearing, the solitary pain of seeing things crumble. Still on the verge of depression, another way to reflect on pain and especially psychological violence, Phoebe gets help from the friends of the boygenius Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, voices in the two final tracks, by many excellent musicians (the record is "soft" but rather stratified on an instrumental level), and above all from what we can now consider her mentor, Conor Oberst, on two tracks and co-composer on at least five. We are not yet at the masterpiece, but the girl could do it in the near future.
