Per quanto rispetti la figura di Hayley Williams, mi aspettavo sinceramente qualcosa di più da questo suo debutto solista (ufficialmente, i Paramore non si sono sciolti). Per quanto le liriche siano importanti, ho l'impressione che nelle recensioni delle testate musicali importanti si sia teso a sottolineare quanto rappresentino il coraggio dell'artista nell'affrontare varie tematiche e la lotta contro la depressione, tralasciando leggermente il fatto che a livello musicale si sarebbe potuto fare di più. Le influenze musicali di Hayley erano immaginabili, ascoltando la musica dei Paramore e soprattutto gli ultimi dischi, ma se dobbiamo inserire anche lei in un ristretto circolo di artiste musicali femminili bianche che stanno contribuendo ad un importante progresso musicale (sto parlando di figure come Bjork ma anche di Grimes e FKA twigs), mi aspetto un maggiore sforzo dalla ragazza originaria di Meridian, Mississippi. Disco interessante, ma a volte ridondante a volte confuso; le potenzialità vocali non sono sfruttate al massimo.
As much as I respect the figure of Hayley Williams, I sincerely expected something more from her solo debut (officially, the Paramore did not disbanded yet). As important as the lyrics are, I have the impression that in the reviews of the important musical magazines it has tended to underline how much the artist's courage in dealing with various themes and the fight against depression represent, leaving aside the fact that at the musical level more could have been done. Hayley's musical influences were imaginable, listening to the music of Paramore and especially the latest records, but if we also have to enter a small circle of white female music artists who are contributing to an important musical progress (I'm talking about figures like Bjork but also from Grimes and FKA twigs), I expect more effort from the girl from Meridian, Mississippi. Interesting disc, but sometimes redundant sometimes confusing; vocal potential is not fully exploited.
