Il debutto di questa nuovissima band internazionale (membri che vengono dal Belgio e dagli US) è un EP di cinque tracce, giusto 17 minuti di musica, che già dalla copertina omaggia e richiama i Morbid Angel. C'è da sottolineare che i componenti non sono totalmente sconosciuti: al basso c'è Aaron Rieseberg degli YOB, oltre agli altri tre che "condividono" almeno un'altra band. Il batterista Wim Sreppoc fa parte degli Oathbreaker e dei Wiegedood, il chitarrista Lennart Bossu degli Amenra e degli Oathbreaker, il chitarrista e cantante Levy Seynaeve degli Amenra e dei Wiegedood, oltre ad essere un membro live degli Oathbreaker. Da quando ho saputo la notizia della formazione di questa band, mi sono immaginato che c'entrasse qualcosa il fatto che i Wiegedood avessero fatto da apertura agli YOB nel loro ultimo tour europeo, ma prendetela come supposizione, non come notizia. Detto tutto questo, il lavoro di cui parliamo, come detto, è un brevissimo manifesto sonoro di quello che interessa alla band: un death metal appunto fortemente ispirato ai pionieri Morbid Angel, suonato con maestria. Vedremo se riusciranno a dare continuità al progetto.
The debut of this brand new international band (members who come from Belgium and the US) is a five-track EP, just 17 minutes of music, which already from the cover pays homage and recalls Morbid Angel. It should be noted that the members are not totally unknown: on bass there is Aaron Rieseberg of YOB, as well as the other three who "share" at least one other band. Ever since I heard the news of this band's formation, I figured it had something to do with the fact that Wiegedood opened to YOB on their latest European tour, but take it as a guess, not as a news. Having said all this, the work we are talking about, as mentioned, is a very short sound manifesto of what interests the band: a death metal strongly inspired by the pioneers Morbid Angel, played with skill. We will see if they can give continuity to the project.
