Scoperte (credo che in questo caso il femminile sia adatto) grazie alla ormai mitica serie di cover di Two Minutes To Late Night, capitanate da Shawna Potter, le War On Women sono una band dichiaratamente femminista, di base a Baltimore, Maryland. Capture the Flag è il loro secondo album, e suona hardcore punk, quello che ricorda i RATM, i Rise Against, i Bad Religion e gli antichissimi Jingo de Lunch, un genere datato ma che, almeno ai miei orecchi, suona sempre molto fresco. Belle melodie, la voce aggressiva, i ritmi sempre sostenuti, le liriche militanti. Seppure in ritardo, sono felice di esserci arrivato.
I discover them thanks to the now legendary Two Minutes To Late Night cover series, led by Shawna Potter, War On Women are an openly feminist band, based in Baltimore, Maryland. Capture the Flag is their second album, and it sounds hardcore punk, the one reminiscent of RATM, Rise Against, Bad Religion and the ancient Jingo de Lunch, a dated genre but which, at least to my ears, always sounds very fresh. Beautiful melodies, the aggressive voice, the always sustained rhythms, the militant lyrics. Albeit late, I'm glad I got there.
