Era da un po' che avevo "perso di vista" Glenn Allen Anzalone, in arte Danzig, da Lodi, New Jersey. Pur riconoscendogli tutto quello che c'è da riconoscergli, sono un po' sconcertato dall'ascolto di questo nuovo Black Laden Crown e dalla lettura delle recensioni della stampa anglosassone: a dire il vero, stavolta i recensori italiani sono stati più equilibrati. Quello che voglio dire è che questo disco è veramente poca cosa, duole dirlo per rispetto ad un'icona così importante, ma è così. Il lavoro di Tommy Victor alle chitarre è lodevole, seppur pieno di riff già sentiti, e l'utilizzo di ben quattro batteristi diversi (Joey Castillo, Johnny Kelly, Dirk Verbeuren, Karl Rosqvist) sulle varie tracce, a causa dei lunghissimi tempi di lavorazione, non conferisce certo omogeneità al disco. In realtà c'è anche un quinto batterista, che è Danzig stesso, su tre tracce, Danzig che ha pure suonato basso e chitarra ritmica sull'intero disco, e, a livello di batteria è decisamente la parte più scarsa di tutto il lavoro (non che quella di basso sia migliore). I pezzi sono prevedibili, seppure ci sia qualche acuto (Last Ride, The Witching Hour), e spesso, quando Glenn osa un po' troppo con i toni alti, con la voce si rischia il ridicolo. Disco non completamente da dimenticare, ma decisamente superfluo.

While acknowledging everything I have to acknowledge to him, I'm a little baffled by the listening to this new "Black Laden Crown" and reading the reviews of the Anglo-Saxon press: in fact, this time the Italian reviewers were more balanced. What I want to say is that this disc is really little thing, it's a shame to say it with respect to such an icon, but that's it. Tommy Victor's work on guitars is praiseworthy, albeit full of riffs already heard, and the use of four different drummers (Joey Castillo, Johnny Kelly, Dirk Verbeuren, Karl Rosqvist) on the various tracks, due to the long working times , does not confer homogeneity at the album. Actually, there is also a fifth drummer, Danzig himself, on three tracks, Danzig that played also bass guitar and rhythmic guitar on the whole disc, and at drumming level is definitely the poorest part of all the work (not that the bass guitar lines were better). The tracks are foreseeable, though there are some good things (Last Ride, The Witching Hour), and often, when Glenn dares a bit too much on the high notes, with the voice risks the ridicule. Disc not completely forgettable, but definitely superfluous.
