In Your Parasol

Queens of the Stone Age + Broncho, Unipol Arena, Bologna - 4/11/2017

21.15 the band of Josh Homme, of which I remember the infinite pedals, during the first concert of Kyuss that I saw (in 1994), goes on stage, a huge stage with a show of lights to take your breath away, and attacks "If I Had a Tail", followed closely by "Monsters in the Parasol", which gives me a bump.
Now, you must know that, concurrently with the event, there was the Siena-Livorno football match, valid for the Serie C / Lega Pro championship, group A, a very important clash at the top. And, it happens, that someone "broadcast" it on Facebook live. Friends present at the concert will argue that I did not understand anything, because more intent to see the game that the concert. Well, apart that everyone has its own priorities, you must believe what you want: what I will tell you is that since the same night, I was stunned reading comments to say the least enthusiastic about the concert.
What I have come up with from the evening is that Josh Homme has a boundless ego, and probably sometimes gets caught up with delusions of omnipotence. I did not like his chats (too often a bit like a bully), I did not like the glitz especially the lighting system (or rather, the lights were beautiful) as a counterpoint to a certain lack of raw music and performance intensity, I was not exalted by the setlist and, but this does not depend precisely on the band, I did not like the acoustics at all, a problem that, experience teaches us, the Unipol Arena depends on who is at the mixer (and that night there was someone who could not make us heard a fuck), I didn't like the two (2!!) drums solo.
In my humble opinion, a confirmation of the weakness of the last album; Josh Homme and his pards have probably decided that they want to follow Foo Fighters' footsteps, and succeed globally. There is nothing wrong with this, but the FF it's as if they had declared it from the beginning, while the QOTSA initially (I know that when I do so I can become unbearable, but I remember literally doing the races to go to see them on the first of July 1999 in Jesolo at the Beach Bum Festival, where they opened the afternoon - at 6 PM! -, tour of the first disc namesake, and the coordinates were quite different), seemed to have other intentions.

So, if the path is this, I quit.
