L'ottavo album di Miss Americana è arrivato a sorpresa, circa un mese fa, senza squilli di trombe, senza promozione. Taylor Alison Swift, oggi 30enne, ha approfittato del lockdown per dare sfogo al suo songwriting in tutta calma, aiutata principalmente da Aaron Dessner e Jack Antonoff (anche musicisti e produttori), con qualche eccezione (anche rilevante). Ne è uscito un disco, a mio giudizio, intimo, maturo, molto interessante. E', sempre secondo me, il disco più country/folk della sua carriera, e probabilmente meno pop, senza che questo le impedisca di essere decisamente ascoltabile e gradevole. Continua a parlare d'amore, in genere, ovviamente con una maturità diversa ed una sensibilità mutata, e dopo dischi iper-prodotti dove tentava, spesso riuscendoci, di far vedere fin dove potesse arrivare con il suo talento, qua torna alle sue origini con 16 anni di carriera (vissuti al massimo) alle spalle ed un'esperienza di vita amplificata e resa "difficile" dai riflettori, regalandoci un disco delicato, empatico, bello, con una splendida ciliegina sulla torta: Exile, il suo duetto con Justin Vernon dei Bon Iver, una canzone meravigliosa. Sorprendente in tutti i sensi.
Miss Americana's eighth album came as a surprise, about a month ago, with no trumpet blasting, no promotion. Taylor Alison Swift, now 30, took advantage of the lockdown to give vent to her songwriting in all calm, helped mainly by Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff (also musicians and producers), with some exceptions (also relevant). The result is a record, in my opinion, intimate, mature, very interesting. It is, again in my opinion, the most country / folk record of her career, and probably less pop, without this preventing her from being definitely listenable and pleasant. She continues to talk about love, in general, obviously with a different maturity and a changed sensitivity, and after hyper-produced records where she tried, often succeeding, to show how far she could go with her talent, here she returns to her origins with 16 years of career (lived to the maximum) behind her back and a life experience amplified and made "difficult" by the spotlight, giving us a delicate, empathic, beautiful record, with a splendid icing on the cake: Exile, her duet with Justin Vernon by Bon Iver, a wonderful song. Surprising in every sense.
