Fossora - Bjork (2022)

Riprendo qualche "rimanenza di magazzino", ossia qualche disco del 2022 che non avevo avuto tempo di commentare, e comincio con il decimo album di Björk Guðmundsdóttir. Il titolo è la versione sgrammaticata del latino per "scavatrice", e come temi conduttori ha la morte della madre, e l'isolamento (ovviamente anche "indotto" da COVID19). Come sempre, la nostra islandese preferita si avvale di molti contributi, e come sempre, sono spesso sorprendenti: c'è il cantante sperimentale statunitense Serpentwithfeet, ci sono due figli di Björk, Sindri e Ísadóra, il duo di musica dance indonesiano Gabber Modus Operandi, e il sestetto di clarinetti bassi Murmuri. Il disco è uno spettacolo sonoro inebriante e spiazzante, una sorta di compilation di musica tradizionale moderna. E' forte ma delicato. E' talmente avanti, che spesso odora di antico. E' classico ma ultra-moderno. E' Björk, e non c'è un cazzo da fare, per quanto e quanti la inseguano, nessuno riesce ad essere come lei.

I pick up some "remaining stock", i.e. some records from 2022 that I hadn't had time to comment on, and I start with Björk Guðmundsdóttir's tenth album. The title is the ungrammatical female version of the Latin for "digger", and as the main themes it has the death of the mother, and isolation (obviously also "induced" by COVID19). As always, our favorite female Icelandic used many contributions, and as always, they are often surprising: there is the US experimental singer Serpentwithfeet, there are two children of Björk, Sindri and Ísadóra, the Indonesian dance music duo Gabber Modus Operandi, and the bass clarinet sextet Murmuri. The disc is an intoxicating and unsettling sound show, a sort of compilation of modern traditional music. It is strong but delicate. It is so advanced that it often smells of antiquity. It is classic yet ultra-modern. It's Björk, and there's nothing to do, however much and how many chase her, no one can be like her.
