Una volta, l'album dal vivo era un rito, come pure un momento importante per una band, non solo metal. Adesso i social hanno ridotto, almeno mi pare, l'interesse verso operazioni del genere, visto che anche senza vedere una band in concerto, si può avere un'idea abbastanza precisa del valore e dell'approccio live, appunto, di una band. Quattro righe inutili per dirvi che la band di Knoxville, Tennessee, ha da poco fatto uscire questo disco live, che vede 13 tracce, quasi tutte dagli ultimi due album, e tra l'altro, con una tracklist quantomeno strana, visto che tutti gli estratti da The Valley sono all'inizio (ben sei), quelli dall'ultimo Kin immediatamente dopo e, ancora una volta, tutti insieme (cinque), e si termina con uno sguardo al passato con This Is Exile (dal secondo album in studio, dal titolo omonimo) e la chiusura con The Saw Is the Law, dal quinto Our Endless War. Un disco che comunque conferma la solidità di una band che ha conservato l'approccio deathcore, ma ha dato via via spazio al cantato pulito della grande ugola di Phil Bozeman, introducendo sempre più aperture melodiche che magari avranno fatto loro perdere qualche fan, ma hanno loro spalancato le porte per allargare non solo bacino d'utenza, ma anche possibilità di crescita stilistica.

A record that nevertheless confirms the solidity of a band that has preserved the deathcore approach, but has gradually given space to the clean vocals of Phil Bozeman's great voice, introducing more and more melodic openings that may have made them lose some fans, but have opened the doors to them to broaden not only the user base, but also the possibility of stylistic growth.
