Qualche giorno fa, ma lo facciamo ad intervalli pressoché regolari, con un amico, che mi segnala band per me nuove, e col quale condividiamo gusti musicali, riflettevamo sulla ottusità di altri amanti della musica, dispiacendoci per loro, in base a quanto riescono a perdersi. E' il caso della band di San Diego, California, portabandiera del metal LGBTQ+ e di quel divertentissimo sottogenere defnito sasscore. Se siete stati attenti, saprete già molte cose di loro, altrimenti potete andare a rileggervi le recensioni sul loro album di debutto, e sul loro secondo. La freschezza del loro suono è quasi inarrivabile, così come la sensualità, che esce dalle loro canzoni (unico appunto che possiamo muovere loro, forse un poco troppo simili tra di loro). Su questo nuovissimo lavoro diversificano con inserti jazz (Allow Us to Set the Scene e Respite for a Tragic Tale con l'aiuto di iRis.EXE, per quel che sento, grande voce), e una serie di (altre) ospitate interessantissime: Kim Dracula in Lubricant Like Kerosene, Courtney LaPlante (Spiritbox, per chi vivesse su un altro pianeta) in To The Dance Floor For Shelter, nothing,nowhere in Rhythm and Rapture. L'album cresce ad ogni ascolto, e infonde nell'ascoltatore energia ed allegria. Ragazz*, grazie di esistere.
A few days ago, but we do it at almost regular intervals, with a friend, who points out bands that are new to me, and with whom we share musical tastes, we reflected on the obtuseness of other music lovers, feeling sorry for them, based on how much they manage to get lost. This is the case of the band from San Diego, California, standard bearer of LGBTQ+ metal and that fun subgenre called sasscore. If you've been careful, you'll already know a lot about them, otherwise you can go and reread the reviews of their debut album, and their second. The freshness of their sound is almost unattainable, as is the sensuality that comes out of their songs (the only complaint we can make about them, perhaps a little too similar to each other). On this brand new work they diversify with jazz inserts (Allow Us to Set the Scene and Respite for a Tragic Tale with the help of iRis.EXE, from what I hear, great voice), and a series of (other) very interesting guests: Kim Dracula in Lubricant Like Kerosene, Courtney LaPlante (Spiritbox, for who lived on another planet) in To The Dance Floor For Shelter, nothing,nowhere in Rhythm and Rapture. The album grows with each listen, and infuses the listener with energy and joy. Guys, thanks for existing.
