The Correlation Between Entrance and Exit Wounds - SeeYouSpaceCowboy (2019)
Mi hanno incuriosito subito questi SeeYouSpaceCowboy, nome tratto dal celebre anime Cowboy Bebop del quale, lo chiarisco subito, non so niente, giovane band proveniente da San Diego, California. Ci tengono ad essere definiti sasscore, a livello di genere, così come a definire con molta precisione le loro posizioni politiche, anticapitaliste, antirazziste e in supporto della comunità LGBTQ (la cantante Connie Sgarbossa, sorella del chitarrista Ethan, agli inizi batterista, è una transgender), e ricercano attivamente il dialogo con i fans. Detto tutto questo, il disco di debutto in questione, uscito nel settembre del 2019, è davvero interessante, undici tracce di hardcore screamo / sass appunto, aggressivo e melodico, con folgoranti ritmiche di chitarra e una sezione ritmica che sostiene in maniera perfetta l'andamento sincopato delle canzoni, e dimostra compattezza e una sorprendente maturità compositiva.
I was immediately intrigued by these SeeYouSpaceCowboy, the name taken from the famous anime Cowboy Bebop of which, I immediately clarify, I know nothing, a young band from San Diego, California. They are keen to be defined as sasscore, at the level of genre, as well as to define very precisely their political, anti-capitalist, anti-racist positions and in support of the LGBTQ community (singer Connie Sgarbossa, sister of guitarist Ethan, who was a drummer at the beginning, is a transgender woman), and actively seek dialogue with fans. Having said all this, the debut album in question, released in September 2019, is really interesting, eleven tracks of hardcore screamo / sass precisely, aggressive and melodic, with dazzling guitar rhythms and a rhythm section that perfectly supports the syncopated performance of the songs, and demonstrates compactness and a surprising compositional maturity.
