Chi non ne avesse mai sentito parlare rimarrà quantomeno sorpreso da questi dati: questo è il quinto album in studio per la band che non è altro se non la "creatura" di Robert Scott Weinrich, per gli amici Wino, anche se in realtà la band si formò per la prima volta nel 1979 con questo nome, anche se, ad essere precisi, per i tre anni precedenti si chiamarono Warhorse. Messi in iato, o pausa, più volte, dato che Wino fu protagonista per molti anni, e ad intermittenza, dei seminali Saint Vitus, come recita giustamente Wikipedia, una delle prime doom metal band, e una dei Big Four del genere, insieme a Candlemass, Pentagram e Trouble. Tutta questa introduzione per darvi un po' di contesto: Gilded Sorrow è un disco di heavy metal dalle sonorità moderne, ma con un concetto antico. Eppure, i riff che trovate qui, sono qualcosa di fenomenale, se, come me, siete cresciuti con tale genere musicale. Una goduria.

All this introduction to give you some context: Gilded Sorrow is a heavy metal record with a modern sound, but with an ancient concept. Yet, the riffs you find here are something phenomenal, if, like me, you grew up with this musical genre. A pleasure.
