Voyage - ABBA (2021)

Stupitevi se vi pare, ma mi pareva irrispettoso non parlare di questo album. Nono album per la band svedese, 40 anni dopo The Visitors, album del 1981 dopo il quale, non ufficialmente, la band si era sciolta (da notare anche che in quegli anni, le due coppie, che si erano sposate, divorziarono). Con gli anni, acquisendo uno status vicino alla leggenda, e i successi continuativi di dischi celebrativi e perfino del musical ispirato alle loro canzoni, la pressione per una reunion è diventata sempre più grande, ed eccoci qua, a giudicare dieci nuovi possibili inni. Non è così, e ci dispiace: la capacità di scrivere buone canzoni, basate sugli intrecci vocali delle due cantanti rimane, ma da una parte, ovviamente gli arrangiamenti, con tutto l'impegno possibile, suonano comunque datati, dall'altra, non c'è, su dieci tracce, una (o più) che può rimanere indelebile, così come molte altre che i quattro (meglio, i due maschietti, loro sono i compositori) hanno scritto in passato. Grazie comunque.

Be surprised if you like, but it seemed disrespectful not to mention this album. Ninth album for the Swedish band, 40 years after The Visitors, 1981 album after which, unofficially, the band broke up (it should also be noted that in those years, the two couples, who had married, divorced). Over the years, acquiring a status close to legend, and the continuing successes of celebratory records and even the musical inspired by their songs, the pressure for a reunion has grown ever greater, and here we are, judging ten new possible anthems. This is not the case, and we are sorry: the ability to write good songs, based on the vocal intertwining of the two female singers remains, but on the one hand, obviously the arrangements, with all the possible effort, still sound dated, on the other, there is not, out of ten tracks, one (or more) that can remain indelible, as well as many others that the four (better, the two male, they are the composers) have written in the past.
