Il quinto album della band di Little Rock, Arkansas, è probabilmente il loro capolavoro. Un disco totalmente soddisfacente, sei tracce "espanse", come piace a loro, per 50 minuti abbondanti di un doom metal che può ricordare i Candlemass (ma con una voce decisamente meno "da operetta" e molto più emozionante, a mio modesto parere), così come in alcuni passaggi i Baroness (con i quali saranno prossimamente in tour) per la potenza sonora, e, questa una similitudine del tutto personale, addirittura ai Pink Floyd di Gilmour, quando lasciano sospese le note e si lanciano nelle lunghe digressioni rallentate che li caratterizzano da sempre, ma che qui arrivano ad un livello di maturità superiore. Le melodie, dolenti ma bellissime, sono padrone, e il disco è davvero bellissimo. Non perdetelo.
The fifth album of the band from Little Rock, Arkansas, is probably their masterpiece. A totally satisfying album, six "expanded" tracks, as they like, for 50 minutes of doom metal that recalls Candlemass (but with a voice that is decidedly less "operetta-like" and much more exciting, in my humble opinion) , as well as in some passages the Baroness (with whom they will soon be on tour) for the sound power, and, this is a completely personal similarity, even to Gilmour's Pink Floyd, when they leave the notes suspended and launch into long slowed-down digressions which have always characterized them, but which here reach a higher level of maturity. The melodies, painful but beautiful, are masters, and the album is truly beautiful. Don't miss it.
