Con tutto il bene che possiamo volere ad una band simpatica, piena di talento, che arriva ad intitolare un pezzo di questo nuovo, terzo album Cacio e Pepe (che farà la gioia di tutti i romani), che potremmo odiare solo perché già la copertina di questo La Di Da Di fa venir fame, è veramente difficile continuare ad ascoltarli senza venir assaliti da una sensazione di déjà entendu (naturalmente, l'equivalente di déjà vu in musica).
Dave Konopka (basso, chitarra, effetti), John Stanier (batteria) e Ian Williams (chitarra, tastiere), orfani di Tyondai Braxton, decidono di dare un taglio anche alle collaborazioni "vocali", e di dedicarsi esclusivamente alla musica strumentale, con questo terzo album. Con lo stesso approccio, che avevo già definito in passato giocoso, vanno avanti per la loro strada, ma i risultati sono alterni. Ci sono grandi pezzi, che riescono a "parlare" anche senza voce (Non-Violence è uno di questi, e ricorda altre cavalcate dei due dischi precedenti), ma altri che risultano mere jam session di tre musicisti estremamente dotati, ma che non riescono a convincere nell'interezza di un intero full length. Oserei dire che, fatte le dovute differenze e contestualizzazioni, ci vuole ancora un po' di tempo ed elaborazioni, per riuscire a comunicare qualcosa di visceralmente bello senza un cantante, così come riusciva agli EL&P, o, nelle parti strumentali, agli Area.

I dare say that, taking into account the necessary differences, and contextualizing, it still takes a bit 'of time and development, to be able to communicate something viscerally beautiful without a singer, in the same way EL & P were able to do, or, in their instrumental parts, the italian jazz-rock band of the seventies, Area.
