Primordial Arcana - Wolves in the Throne Room (2021)
Il settimo album della band di Olympia, Washington non si distacca moltissimo dai predecessori, escluso Celestite, s'intende, ma a mio modesto giudizio si percepisce un maggior ordine. Condivido il pensiero che l'obiettivo primario sia riuscire a combinare meglio possibile appunto, la furia black metal seppure con risvolti folk naturistici, con la dark ambient appunto di Celestite, e qua, quello che perdono in furia iconoclasta la guadagnano in un suono suggestivamente avvolgente. Il misticismo che è ben presente nelle loro interviste, nelle loro foto pubblicitarie, e soprattutto, sul loro palco quando si esibiscono dal vivo, mi pare portato finalmente a compimento e perfettamente percepibile, in questo album. Voglio osare, e dire che riescono finalmente a raggiungere le vette che forse solo i rumeni (e purtroppo misconosciuti) Negura Bunget avevano raggiunto, a livello di folk metal. Ripeto, un album molto più suggestivo che prepotente, per me un'evoluzione positiva.
The seventh album of the Olympia band, Washington does not differ very much from its predecessors, except Celestite, of course, but in my humble opinion there is a greater order. I share the thought that the primary objective is to be able to combine as best as possible the black metal fury, albeit with naturist folk implications, with the dark ambient of Celestite, and here, what they lose in iconoclastic fury they gain in a suggestively enveloping sound . The mysticism that is very present in their interviews, in their advertising photos, and above all, on their stage when they perform live, seems to me to be finally brought to fruition and perfectly perceptible, in this album. I want to dare, and to say that they finally manage to reach the heights that perhaps only the Romanians (and unfortunately misunderstood) Negura Bunget had reached, at the level of folk metal. I repeat, an album much more suggestive than overbearing, a positive evolution for me.
