The Other Side of Make-Believe - Interpol (2022)
Settimo album per la band di Manhattan, New York, scritto durante la pandemia di COVID19, e ancora una volta, un ottimo disco (come sapete, sostengo la teoria che gli Interpol facciano bellissimi dischi, ma che siano scarsissimi dal vivo). Le atmosfere sono meno cupe del solito (Paul Banks, voce, chitarra, basso e paroliere, è arrivato a dichiarare "Alcune delle canzoni in particolare hanno sentimenti davvero sfacciatamente positivi... qualcosa che fa sentire bene è l'aspirazione"), e i ritmi sono spesso spiazzanti, dispari, quasi un tentativo di jazzare il loro revival post-punk. Meno d'impatto, ma molto, molto interessante.
Seventh album for the band from Manhattan, New York, written during the COVID19 pandemic, and once again, a great record (as you know, I support the theory that Interpol make great records, but that they are very bad live). The atmospheres are less gloomy than usual (Paul Banks, vocals, guitar, bass and lyricist, went so far as to declare "A few of the songs in particular have really unabashedly positive sentiments... something that feels good is the aspiration."), and rhythms are often unsettling, odd, almost an attempt to put a little jazz into their post-punk revival. Less impactful, but very, very interesting.
