Apart from the fact that I feel in some way linked to Belgium (who reads the blog, or who knows me, knows why), lately, attending for business reasons (because of the second airport of Brussels, which has a direct flight from Pisa ) the surroundings of Charleroi, I discovered that the presence of Italian descendants, children or grandchildren of immigrants who worked mainly in the surrounding mines, is still very strong, and many young people speak a colourful, ungrammatical, but nice Italian. Sooner or later I have to find the opportunity to visit the center of this town, also because it is the birthplace of this thirty-eight old, good singer of modern and classic jazz at the same time. Belgian mother and of course, Italian father, singer and flutist, passionate of rock and funk, authoress of only two LP, "A Stomach is Burning" of 2007, and "No Deal" of 2013, she has just released a new album, that it is not clear whether define LP or EP, surely particular: consists of a single track, "Blackened Cities", lasting 24 minutes and 16 seconds, a jazz-rock ride, inspired, of course, by industrial cities such as hers Charleroi, immortalized in beautiful cover photo by Stéphan Vanfleteren, and she could really surprise you.
