I Don't Live Here Anymore - The War on Drugs (2021)
Il quinto disco della band di Adam Granduciel conferma per filo e per segno tutto quello che vi avevo detto nell'occasione del disco precedente, A Deeper Understanding del 2017. Un'americana che qualcuno può definire indie rock, una rivitalizzazione dell'heartland rock di Springsteen con un tocco di hype, ma il risultato è, per me, davvero narcotizzante. Potrei ascoltare questo disco per decine, centinaia di volte, senza mai distinguere le differenze tra una traccia e l'altra, e comunque, il risultato è una noia mortale. Sicuramente ci saranno ascoltatori che ne rimangono incantati, e mi fa piacere per loro, non me ne vogliate, a me proprio non piace.
The fifth album by Adam Granduciel's band confirms everything I told you on the occasion of the previous album, 2017's A Deeper Understanding. An Americana that some can define indie rock, a revitalization of the Heartland rock of Springsteen with a touch of hype, but the result is, for me, very narcolectic. I could listen to this record for dozens, hundreds of times, without ever distinguishing the differences between one track and another, and anyway, the result is a deadly boredom. Surely there will be listeners who are enchanted by it, and I'm glad for them, but I don't like it, I just don't like it.
