Personaggio quantomeno curioso quello di Anika (all'anagrafe Annika Henderson), nata 34 anni fa nel Surrey in Inghilterra di origini miste anglo-tedesche, già giornalista politica che faceva la spola tra Berlino e Bristol, poi lanciata nel campo musicale dall'incontro con Geoff Barrow (produttore dei Portishead) con il suo primo album Anika del 2010. Anche poetessa, ha formato una band in Messico, gli Exploded View, e si cimenta anche nell'attività di DJ. Kraut rock e trip hop semplificati e ridotti all'osso ma senza risultare minimali, preferenza per arrangiamenti ipnotici, tracce di Nico e Laurie Anderson, voce particolare, che a volte addirittura può sembrare incerta, ma certamente un qualcosa che fa breccia, liriche che riflettono i suoi punti di vista femminili e politici. Oggetto strano ma affascinante.
