Igorrr + Amenra + Der Weg einer Freiheit + Hangman's Chair, 25 Marzo 2023, Link Bologna
Per questo ottimo appuntamento metal di livello, il Link di Bologna rivela i suoi limiti: il parcheggio. Auto parcheggiate lungo la strada d'accesso per almeno 2 chilometri. Detto questo, tanto di cappello per la serata. Arrivo volutamente in ritardo per perdermi l'apertura dei francesi Hangman's Chair, già visti in azione qualche mese fa in apertura dei Paradise Lost, ma in tempo per prendermi una birra e trovare una posizione defilata ma decente. Per secondi suonano i tedeschi Der Weg einer Freiheit, black metal fortemente influenzato da quello scandinavo alla Darkthrone con qualche tentativo, timido bisogna dire, di sfociare nel post-metal. Comunque apprezzabili. Con tutto il rispetto per gli headliner di stasera, gli Amenra (per me questa è la quinta volta che li vedo, due in acustico e tre in elettrico) sono la ragione per cui sono qui; e, ça va sans dire, la band belga non delude mai. Zero dialogo, ma solo il "messaggio" finale (la scritta sullo schermo retrostante al palco che appare dopo ogni concerto, anche stasera non fa eccezione) vale più di mille parole ("amore e luce", vedi titolo del post), e una "potenza di fuoco", accompagnata da un sempre splendido lavoro delle luci, semplici ma efficacissime, devastante. Set di poco meno di un'ora, che però vale da solo il prezzo dell'intero biglietto. Il collettivo che circonda e completa la band di Gautier Serre aka Igorrr è quanto di più eterogeneo si possa immaginare, ed il risultato è estremamente interessante, soprattutto su disco, un po' meno dal vivo. Black metal mescolato con musica barocca (una vocalist classica, la mezzo-soprano Marthe Alexandre) e con una dance durissima, breakcore mista ad industrial metal. Ottimo coinvolgimento del pubblico, ma io lascio prima del termine, va bene così.
For this excellent high-level metal appointment, the Bologna Link reveals its limits: parking. Cars parked along the access road for at least 2 kilometres. That being said, hats off to the evening. I arrive deliberately late to miss the opening of the French Hangman's Chair, already seen in action a few months ago opening for Paradise Lost, but in time to grab a beer and find a secluded but decent position. The Germans Der Weg einer Freiheit play second, black metal strongly influenced by the Scandinavian one like Darkthrone with some attempt, timid it must be said, to flow into post-metal. Nonetheless appreciable. With all due respect to tonight's headliners, Amenra (for me this is the fifth time I've seen them, two acoustic and three electric) are the reason I'm here; and, ça va sans dire, the Belgian band never disappoints. Zero dialogue, but only the final "message" (the writing on the screen behind the stage that appears after every concert, even tonight is no exception) is worth a thousand words ("love and light", see post title), and a devastating (accompanied by an always splendid work of the lights, simple but very effective) "firepower". A set of just under an hour, which however alone is worth the price of the entire ticket. The collective that surrounds and completes Gautier Serre aka Igorrr's band is the most heterogeneous imaginable, and the result is extremely interesting, especially on record, a little less live. Black metal mixed with baroque music (a classical vocalist, mezzo-soprano Marthe Alexandre) and with very hard dance, breakcore mixed with industrial metal. Excellent involvement of the public, but I leave before the end, that's okay.
