Ama il prossimo tuo come te stesso - Manuel Agnelli (2022)
Il nostro amato (per tutto quello che ha fatto per il rock alternativo italiano) e odiato (per il carattere non certo affabile) Manuel non ha più niente da dimostrare, quantomeno, al pubblico italiano. Si può quindi concedere perfino di cominciare una carriera solista, e possiamo tranquillamente dire che questo disco, non solo a livello italiano, è di grande caratura, sia a livello di liriche, che a livello musicale: incisivo, estroso, eterogeneo, moderno, decisamente più rock che pop. Uno di quegli album dove è difficile scegliere una traccia preferita. Lo stile è prevedibile, è quello degli ultimi Afterhours, seppure il loro ultimo, bellissimo lavoro, ormai risalga a sette anni fa; infatti, la domanda che è sorta spontanea, non solo a me, dopo l'ascolto di Ama il prossimo tuo come te stesso, è perché non l'abbia pubblicato come Afterhours. Dopo qualche mese però, mi sono dato questa risposta: perché Manuel può, e deve, fare quello che gli pare. Ottimo disco, dove debutta, a sorpresa ma fino ad un certo punto, perfino la figlia Emma, su Lo sposo sulla torta. E, pensate un po', è uno di quei brani che ti rimangono inchiodati in testa.
Our beloved (for all he has done for Italian alternative rock) and hated (for his certainly not affable character) Manuel has nothing more to prove, at least, to the Italian public. He can therefore even allow ourselves to begin a solo career, and we can safely say that this record, not only in Italy, is of great caliber, both in terms of lyrics and in terms of music: incisive, whimsical, heterogeneous, modern, decidedly more rock than pop. One of those albums where it's hard to choose a favorite track. The style is predictable, it is that of the last Afterhours, even if their last, beautiful work dates back to seven years ago; in fact, the question that spontaneously arose, not only for me, after listening to "Ama il prossimo tuo come te stesso", is why he didn't publish it as Afterhours. After a few months, however, I gave myself this answer: because Manuel can, and must, do what he likes. Excellent record, where even the daughter Emma makes her debut, surprisingly but up to a certain point, on "Lo sposo sulla torta". And, surprise surprise, it's one of those songs that stay nailed in your head.
