Heaven Is Gone - Seventh Void (2009)

Some time ago I was writing about Monster Magnet, and re-reading the review of one of their live, I remembered the delicious feeling that I had seeing Seventh Void on stage, seen precisely as a special guest on that occasion. But I realized that I had never heard their so far unique album "Heaven Is Gone". I want to talk about, even if it is a 2009 album, because it seems that the band is still together, working on new material that could see the light in 2016.
Some information, before moving on to the examination: basically, the Seventh Void are formed by two former Type O Negative, guitarist Kevin Hickey, here also (well) on lead vocals, and drummer Johnny Kelly. The line up is completed by Hank Hell on bass and Matt Brown on guitar (the latter left the band in 2011).
Well, that being said, I wanted to talk about this record to help those who, like me, has a great nostalgia for the best Soundgarden. Yes, listening to "Heaven Is Gone", in many steps, you might think, if you do not know which are the Seventh Void, it had to do with an unpublished from the famous Seattle band. More than doom and stoner, as I see them improperly labeled on Wikipedia, I would say that here we are dealing with an excellent post grunge, label that has been used for many bands, and often, as well as improperly, to define a sound not so easy to categorize. Here, we can easily hear very strong influences of Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Nirvana also in some way, as well as the classic heavy metal sabbathesque derivative. A record that says absolutely nothing new, but that those who have had my musical journey, will undoubtedly like. In the hope that the Seventh Void would able to publish another album.
