The Classic Symptoms of a Broken Spirit - Architects (2022)
Il decimo album in studio della band di Brighton è un oggetto strano, che richiede vari ascolti. Personalmente, li accomuno ai loro compatrioti e amici Bring Me the Horizon (probabilmente vi ho già detto questa cosa decine di volte, anche a voce nel caso di alcuni di voi), anche e soprattutto perché, in modi leggermente diversi, sono due band fondamentali del metalcore europeo, e al tempo stesso, ancora ognuno a modo loro, si stanno impegnando profondamente per far uscire questo genere, ed il metal in generale, da una sorta di gabbia nella quale, il metal stesso, dai suoi inizi, tende a rinchiudersi. Ci sono punti comuni, in questa ricerca musicale (l'elettronica, la melodia), ma i risultati sono sempre diversi (ho sempre timore che finiscano per somigliarsi troppo, ma non è mai così, almeno da quando li seguo entrambi). Questo disco è probabilmente meno emozionante dei due precedenti, ma è ugualmente un lavoro più che apprezzabile, decisamente potente e orecchiabile al tempo stesso, e che si fa apprezzare, appunto, per la ricerca di cui sopra. Bravi e dedicati alla causa, mi auguro che continuino così, e che ci regalino sempre dischi coraggiosi.
The Brighton band's tenth studio album is a strange object, requiring several listens. Personally, I equate them to their compatriots and friends Bring Me the Horizon (I've probably already told you this dozens of times, even verbally in the case of some of you), also and above all because, in slightly different ways, they are two fundamental bands of the European metalcore, and at the same time, still each in their own way, are working hard to get this genre, and metal in general, out of a sort of cage in which metal itself, from its beginnings, tends to lock itself up. There are common points in this musical research (electronics, melody), but the results are always different (I'm always afraid that they end up looking too similar, but that's never the case, at least since I've been following them both). This album is probably less exciting than the previous two, but it is equally a more than appreciable work, decidedly powerful and catchy at the same time, and which is appreciated precisely for the research mentioned above. Well done and dedicated to the cause, I hope they continue like this, and always give us brave records.
