La serie è basata sull'indagine sulla morte di Kim Wall, una giornalista svedese di 30 anni. L'omicidio di Kim Wall, noto in Danimarca come Ubådssagen (trad. "Il caso del sottomarino"), è avvenuto il 10 agosto 2017, dopo che la giornalista freelance svedese Kim Wall si è imbarcata sul sottomarino nano UC3 Nautilus, a Køge Bugt, in Danimarca, con l'intento di intervistare il suo proprietario, l'imprenditore danese Peter Madsen.
Non è chiarissimo (è difficile reperire informazioni), ma l'ottimo Tobias Lindholm dovrebbe essere sia il capo sceneggiatore che il regista, dei sei episodi che compongono questa miniserie ispirata ad un fatto realmente accaduto, e che ovviamente fece scalpore, sia in Scandinavia che nel resto del mondo. E c'è da dire che ha fatto un ottimo lavoro, insieme a tutto il cast, la serie tiene incollati allo schermo, nonostante la storia sia conosciuta. Davvero ottima.
