Suffer in Hell - Chelsea Grin (2022)

I'm always discovering new things about myself, and I realize that I've never reviewed a Chelsea Grin record, from Salt Lake City, Utah (the city and state of Mormons), here, with this Suffer in Hell on their sixth album. Formed in 2007, no founding members remain from the original lineup, from 2018. They look quite like Lorna Shore, and not only because in 2018 they hired Tom Barber on vocals, who came from Lorna Shore, to replace the outgoing Alex Koehler (last survivor from the original lineup, indeed). Still taking the New Jersey band as a point of reference, the Utah band is less inclined to include elements of symphonic death (but they are there), while using, at least on this album, more slowdowns and more rhythms verging on djent. The atmospheres are more horror than majestic. The result is a rather short disc, containing eight tracks for a total of less than 27 minutes, which is slightly less good than that of the band already mentioned too many times in this review, but which fully satisfies those who can no longer do without of a daily dose of deathcore.
