Built on Glass - Chet Faker (2014)

First full length from the Australian Nicholas James Murphy aka Chet Faker (it seems that from his next work, he will return to his birthname), of course a tribute to Chet Baker, released in the far-away April 2014, a record containing an almost endless series of singles. We are in the zone where Bon Iver and James Blake lives, perhaps with less electronica and more soul, even if categories like downtempo and trip hop are used to define it. It is to be said that if we compare it with the two names mentioned earlier, I personally find the Chet Faker's songs less exciting or touching, albeit perfect from the stylistic, harmonic, compositional point of view, and from the one of the musical arrangements.
I agree with Pitchfork's review, though: if in the first part Murphy walked on a "safe path", in the second part of the record he dared, he experimented more, and he probably will have to go there in the future, if he wants to distinguish himself, and find the meeting point between immediacy and personality.
