Storia piuttosto curiosa, quella di questa band, o meglio, collettivo, proveniente da Salt Lake City, Utah. Si formano nel 1991 per volere del cantante, chitarrista e compositore Gentry Densley, il solo membro che rimane costante fino ad oggi, e danno vita ad una band che fa dell'improvvisazione la sua forza, difficile da classificare visto che tendono a fondere heavy metal, punk, jazz, e perfino musica classica. Le loro canzoni sono lunghissime, elaborate, estremamente complesse; pubblicano otto album tra il 92 e il 2000, poi vanno in tour in Europa e si sciolgono. Si riuniscono nel 2007, e si riformano: adesso, per la Southern Lord, un'altra di quelle etichette delle quali si dovrebbe ascoltare qualsiasi uscita, esce questo nuovo album, ispirato alla mitologia greca, contenente due tracce di poco sotto ai 20 minuti di durata, dove la prima similitudine che salta agli orecchi è quella con i migliori Melvins, e dove, ad un appassionato di musica pesante, non resta da fare altro che tuffarvisi dentro e perdervisi senza remore.

Rather curious story, that of this band, or rather, collective, coming from Salt Lake City, Utah. They formed in 1991 at the behest of singer, guitarist and composer Gentry Densley, the only member who remains constant to this day, and they give life to a band that makes improvisation its strength, difficult to classify as they tend to blend heavy metal, punk, jazz, and even classical music. Their songs are very long, elaborate, extremely complex; they released eight albums between 1992 and 2000, then toured Europe and disbanded. They reunite in 2007, and reform: now, for Southern Lord, another of those labels that you should listen to any release, this new album, inspired by Greek mythology, is released, containing two tracks of just under 20 minutes of duration, where the first similarity that leaps to the ears is that with the best Melvins, and where, for a fan of heavy music, there is nothing left to do but dive into it and get lost without hesitation.
