Memories Are Now - Jesca Hoop (2017)
Non essendo una che fa molta pubblicità, e nemmeno viene pubblicizzata, questo disco (che non è neppure l'ultimo) di Jesca Hoop, artista della quale abbiamo parlato in passato e dalla storia quantomeno curiosa, l'ho ascoltato con molto ritardo, e l'ho lasciato da parte finché non ho avuto il tempo e l'occasione per parlarvene. Quello di Jesca è un folk particolare, che deve molto alle filastrocche quindi alla musica popolare nel vero senso della parola (grazie alla sua formazione mormone, suppongo), e ai cosiddetti traditional, suonato e cantato con una classe sopraffina, e con un gusto davvero superiore. L'ascolto dei suoi dischi, quindi, si rivela un qualcosa di fuori dagli schemi, ed è fatto per chi non si pone limiti. Questo Memories Are Now non fa eccezione.
Not being someone who does a lot of advertising, nor is it advertised, this record (which is not even the last) by Jesca Hoop, an artist we have talked about in the past and with a curious history, I listened to it very late, and I left it aside until I had the time and opportunity to tell you about it. Jesca's is a particular folk, which owes a lot to nursery rhymes therefore to popular music in the true sense of the word (thanks to its Mormon training, I suppose), and to the so-called traditional, played and sung with a superfine class, and with a really higher taste. Listening to her records, therefore, turns out to be something outside the box, and is made for those who do not set limits. This Memories Are Now is no exception.
