Spellling (con tre elle) è in realtà all'anagrafe Chrystia Cabral, musicista trentenne di base a Oakland, California, al terzo album con questo The Turning Wheel, che esce per la Sacred Bones Records (e per questo mi ha incuriosito). Il suo è un genere indefinito, che alcuni etichettano come experimental pop, e che può ricordare Kate Bush (a livello vocale e compositivo), i Queen e Agnes Obel. Un guazzabuglio incredibile e affascinante, con alcuni spunti geniali ed altri piacevoli. Una voce che si, può ricordare Kate Bush ma anche Diana Ross, insomma, un disco spiazzante, senza barriere, di quelli che possono piacere oppure, per altri, inconcepibili.

Spellling (with three L's) is actually Chrystia Cabral, a 30-year-old musician based in Oakland, California, on her third album with this The Turning Wheel, which comes out on Sacred Bones Records (and that's why it intrigued me). Hers is an indefinite genre, which some label as experimental pop, and which can remember Kate Bush (vocally and compositionally), Queen and Agnes Obel. An incredible and fascinating jumble, with some brilliant ideas and some pleasant ones. A voice that can remember Kate Bush but also Diana Ross, in short, an unsettling record, without barriers, of those who may like it or, for others, inconceivable.
