Dearly Beloved - Daughtry (2021)

Sesto disco per la band che prende il nome dal leader, cantante e chitarrista Chris Daughtry, già finalista di American Idol. Ve ne ho parlato, in passato, i primi dischi mi piacquero abbastanza, una buona voce rock, un buon gusto pop rock (difficile comprendere perché alcuni dischi furono catalogati come post grunge) nello scrivere le canzoni, poi un capitombolo fragoroso con il quarto Baptized, tanto che saltai a pie' pari il seguente Cage to Rattle (mai ascoltato). Mi pare che con questo Dearly Beloved la band torni sui suoi passi, e provi nuovamente quello che sa fare meglio: power ballad hard rock, ritornelli ariosi e super melodici, naturalmente il tutto molto ripetitivo, ma si sa, chi suona questo genere non ama granché sperimentare, e non è amato da chi sperimenta. Eppure, come ebbi già a dire proprio a loro proposito, c'è un momento per tutto: il fatto è che, se non riesci a scrivere una/due canzoni strappamutande per un album, il primo ascolto rimarrà anche l'ultimo.

Sixth album for the band named after the leader, singer and guitarist Chris Daughtry, former American Idol finalist. I told you about it in the past, I liked the first records quite a lot, a good rock voice, a good pop taste (why some records were cataloged as post grunge I still don't understand) in writing the songs, then a thunderous tumble with the fourth Baptized, so much so that I totally jumped the following Cage to Rattle (never heard). It seems to me that with this Dearly Beloved the band retraces its steps, and tries again what they do best: hard rock power ballads, airy and super melodic choruses, of course all very repetitive, but you know, those who play this genre do not like much to experiment, and is not loved by those who experimenting. Yet, as I already said about them, there is a moment for everything: the fact is that, if you can't write one / two pantyhose-rip songs for an album, the first listen will also remain the last.
