The Atlas Underground Fire - Tom Morello (2021)
Secondo album a nome proprio, Tom Morello sembrerebbe avviato sulla scia di Santana, per quanto riguarda far uscire album praticamente esclusivamente collaborativi. C'è innegabile una similitudine, e dicendo questo non voglio mancare di rispetto a nessuno dei due grandi musicisti. E' abbastanza naturale, però, che Morello abbia una visione un poco più moderna delle collaborazioni: si nota dal parterre: c'è qualcosa di piuttosto scontato e prevedibile, Springsteen + Vedder (una cover loffia di Highway to Hell), ma anche cose abbastanza stuzzicanti come BMTH, Phantogram, grandson, Mike Posner, phem, Protohype, Dennis Lyxzén, Sama' Abdulhadi. Qualcosa di interessante alla fine c'è, ma la struttura delle tracce comincia, a mio modesto giudizio, a mostrare un po' la corda.
Second album in his own name, Tom Morello seems to be in the wake of Santana, as far as releasing albums practically exclusively collaborative. There is an undeniable similarity, and by saying this I don't want to disrespect either of the two great musicians. It is quite natural, however, that Morello has a slightly more modern vision of collaborations: it can be seen from the parterre: there is something rather obvious and predictable, Springsteen + Vedder (a limp cover of Highway to Hell), but also things quite tantalizing like BMTH, Phantogram, grandson, Mike Posner, phem, Protohype, Dennis Lyxzén, Sama' Abdulhadi. There is something interesting at the end of the day, but the structure of the tracks begins, in my humble opinion, to show a bit of tiredness.
